Kraft Cheese Spread
A recipe from the old Kraft Mystery
Theater that was on TV in the sixties.
Always a big hit at Holiday time, pot lucks, and Super Bowl
parties.
2 Jars Kraft Old English
1 Jar Kraft Roka Blue
1 8-ounce tub of original Whipped Philadelphia cream
cheese
1/8 to 1/4 Teaspoon onion powder to taste or eliminate the onion
powder
Works best if all cheeses are at room temperature.
The Kraft Roka Blue is seasonal and hard to find at times.
If Roka Blue is not available
use a 12 oz tub of original Whipped Philadelphia cream cheese
INSTEAD OF the 8 oz tub
In a small bowl, combine
2 or 3 Tablespoons to taste of Athenos Blue cheese, crumbled.
1/4 Teaspoon of white vinegar
1 Tablespoon milk
Combine the Blue cheese, white vinegar, and milk with a fork.
If necessary add more milk to get a smooth texture with no
lumps.
In a medium size bowl, combine the cheeses, and onion powder,
using a mixer on medium speed. A stand mixer works best, but you
can get by with a hand held mixer. Mix until lumps are gone.
The spread should be creamy and soft to allow dipping. If the
spread is too thick, add a tablespoon of milk and mix it in.
Store in refrigerator for at least 24 hours before serving to
let the flavors blend.
Use as a dip or spread for crackers, stuffed celery, etc.
My Favorite is to spread on a Ritz cracker, then put a slice of summer
sausage on top. Also great on hamburgers. Use your imagination.
